Cox Flexion-Distraction
Hands-on Spinal Care
Non-invasive spinal decompression through guided stretching and traction.
What is Cox Flexion-Distraction?
Cox Flexion-Distraction (F & D) is a non-surgical, doctor-controlled, hands-on procedure. It allows for the effective administration of flexion, distraction, and decompression of the spine. The technique helps relieve spinal pain including disc injury, sciatica, stenosis, facet syndrome, and spondylolisthesis. F & D has been proven effective in benefiting patients in a number of different ways. Studies show that this procedure can lead to a decrease in intra-discal pressure. It can also widen the spinal canal, reducing pressure on the spinal nerves. Additionally, F & D treatments can help return a wider range of motion to the spinal joints. It can also reduce radiating pain from the spine to the arms and legs.
F & D Procedure
The goal of this procedure is to provide a non-invasive and non-surgical way to decompress the spine. This decompression process comes from gentle stretching and/or traction to the spinal column. By using a table designed specifically for this procedure, your chiropractor can adjust and guide the realignment and decompression. The gentle pressure of the procedure increases disc height between vertebrae. Overall, this helps restore the spinal joints to a more proper alignment.
Spinal Rehabilitation
Because of the gentle nature of this procedure, it can be a popular procedure for physical therapy and rehabilitation after severe cases of spinal injury. This is especially true for those recovering from spinal surgery. Because the process is pain-free and gentle on the back, it can be greatly beneficial. Many patients also find it to be a relaxing experience.

Athletic Injury Prevention
Chiropractic care isn’t just about treating injuries you have. Your chiropractor can help you prevent further injuries, too. Sports can put a severe strain on any number of muscle groups. Even training to maintain your body can lead to injury. Chiropractic injury prevention works to loosen muscles and joints to prevent future injury. It also helps optimize your athletic function via non-invasive joint manipulation. Generally, the goal of this care is to help you improve your muscle tone, balance, and performance to help you improve.
Chiropractic Care For Sports
Repetitive movement of muscles and joints, such as during a game or while working out, can cause strain. Smaller injuries and issues can grow to become larger problems if left unchecked. - Injury recovery
- Joint alignment
- Injury prevention
- Tension reduction
- Increasing flexibility
- Posture and balance improvements
- and more.
